Frugal Fun

It's summer tine and school is out and this means more family outings and finding things to do for children.  Houston has many activities planned, you just have to know where to look.
The Miller Outdoor Theatre offers free performances of classical music, ballet, dance, film and more.  It is an 89 year old theatre located inside of Hermann Park that is opened from March until October.
Discovery Green is 12-acres of shaded walks, Kinder Lake (a tranquil one acre lake), John P. McGovern playground, the Public Art at Discovery Green, and the Andrea and Bill White Promenade (offers a 360-degree view of the Houston skyline).
Designed by the premiere skate park firm Gridline, the Lee and Joe Jamail Skatepark is a state-of-the-art 30,000 square-foot in-ground skate park.  The park has areas for skaters from professional to beginner.
Project Row Houses is an art and cultural community center comprising 22 renovated shotgun-style homes where ten of the twenty-two row houses are dedicated to art, photography and literary projects, which are installed on a rotating six-month basis.
Museums and other activities are free on certain days of the week, so when you’re low on money and things to do with the kids, just click here to discover what waits just beyond your backyard.
